And now, he’s taking us back in time with a special reimagining of his earlier band’s tracks. Back in the summer of 1990, following the fall of the Berlin Wall, Dweck’s band – 229 – became one of the first to be played across Eastern Europe. Their music served as a soundtrack to the reemerging indie scene in countries like Berlin, Czech Republic, Serbia, and Venice. As they toured these countries, Dweck recalls poignant memories of playing in places like Timisoara, where just months before, innocent students had been gunned down by the President’s armed troops. But it wasn’t just their music that made an impact. Dweck and his bandmates were hailed as symbols of hope and freedom, simply by performing in these places that were once under the tight grip of the iron curtain. They were humbled by the gratitude and appreciation shown by the locals, who saw them as a product of their struggles.

Now, decades later, Dweck is revisiting three of 229’s singles – “American B”, “Balaton”, and “Lucy” – that were originally released on their 2016 album, “The Edge of the West”. These songs, known for their socially charged lyrics and prog-rock sound, still hold relevance and power today. And with Dweck’s reimagining, they feel just as fresh and emotive as they did when they were first released. Amidst the success of his solo singles, “Walking (Mon Boulet)” and “Lockdown Song”, Dweck is excited to take a trip down memory lane and share these reimagined tracks with his fans. And with live shows and new music on the horizon, it’s clear that Dweck’s musical journey is far from over.

So, if you’re a fan of prog rock or simply appreciate music with a characterful touch, be sure to check out Alan Dweck’s reimagined tracks from his days in 229. From performing in historic locations to touching hearts with his socially influenced music, Dweck’s legacy is one that will continue to inspire for years to come.
