After being picked up by Amazon’s Prime Video in January, ‘The 30 Second Song Movie’ by the Pocket Gods has been removed from the platform.
“We still don’t know the reasons why [the film has been removed], all they have told us is that it does not fit their content guidelines despite it passing all their guidelines in January, so [I’m] not sure what has changed”, says vocalist Mark Christopher Lee.

It seems ironic that a platform as large as Amazon, who also own ‘Prime Music’, have removed a documentary focusing on a lack of royalties across streaming platforms for artists: Spotify were paying £0.002 per stream for The Pocket Gods’ ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’.
Using Spotify’s policy of paying royalties for any song exceeding the duration of 30-seconds as a springboard, the documentary follows the Pocket Gods’ process of creating 10 albums, each consisting of 100 songs which are 30 seconds long.
The film is now available to be streamed for free on YouTube and Vimeo: “we want to continue the debate and we hope the film helps with this and goes towards creating a better future for artists and songwriters”, says Mark Christopher Lee.
